I started in Rainbow Brite Montessori School as a Classroom assistant in January 2008 after trying for years to get a job. My friends’ auntie owns the school and she offered me the position. I work three days a week. I work between the two Montessori classrooms and the pre-school class. I love working with the children and helping them with their daily tasks, such as colour matching games, shape sorting, pegging
and jigsaws. I also assist the Montessori teacher with presentations. I help out Arts and Crafts classes, RE. and music and movement classes. I assist the fun and games in the outdoor play area. I play and have fun with the children while working as a staff member in Rainbow Brite Montessori School. I also do in house training alongside the other staff members, such as First -Aid and Fire Drill.

I have represented Ireland in the Down Syndrome World Swimming Championships 2004 in South Africa, 2006 in Limerick and I am looking forward to doing the same again this year in Portugal. I love going for a drink with my Dad and I am always ready for a party. I enjoy watching the soaps and wrestling. I have my own log cabin in my garden and spend many hours there, playing music and working on my computer. I have lots of friends.

He was very friendly and he looked great. He helped to set up the band Westlife who I love too. I am going to see Westlife in Galway in June with my sister after my birthday. I would love if Boyzone were playing too!

Our 19 swimmers arrived home on the 4th December from the World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships. All in great spirits after coming 5th in the world out of 23 participating nations. Congratulations to the swimmers, their coach and Manager. Thanks also to the Chapereones and the family members who travelled out to support the team. Organising the Ireland team is an enormous undertaking involving many months of hard work and daunting logistics. This was all done in a voluntary capacity by Margaret Carroll and I know you will all join me in congratulating her and in thanking her for devoting so much of her spare time in organising everthing and the great success of the trip.
